Behind the scenes: our work for DUDE and Natura Trainer

We’re excited to share one of our latest projects, created in collaboration with DUDE, a leading creative agency in Milan, for the Natura Trainer packaging redesign. Our team was in charge of integrating the new graphics onto the packs, with the goal of achieving a perfectly realistic result, where the replacement would be completely seamless.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at some of the technical steps we took in Nuke for the compositing work.

📦 Step 1: Clean-up

The first step was to clean up the original packs. This included:

Removing existing graphics:Using patching and roto-paint techniques, we eliminated the original texts and logos. In some cases, we manually created clean plates, reconstructing lost textures and details.
3D projection:Where needed, we projected the clean textures onto 3D geometry to ensure correct perspective and deformation on curved packaging surfaces.

🖼️ Step 2: Integrating new graphics

After cleaning up the packs, we moved on to integrating the new labels:

Graphics preparation:We received high-resolution label files, which were adapted in Nuke using transformations and distortions to match the original pack geometries.
Projection and tracking:Using 3D tracking and UV projections, we applied the graphics with proper perspective and adapted them to any camera movements.
Lighting and reflections:To boost realism, we added matching reflections and highlights, sometimes creating custom specular and reflection passes.

🎨 Step 3: Final compositing

Finally, we carried out meticulous compositing work to blend all elements together:

Color correction and matching:We matched the new graphics to the colors and lighting of the original packs to avoid any visual mismatch.
Adding imperfections:Subtle blurs, grain, and micro-details helped integrate the new graphics seamlessly into the scene.
Final review:Our co-founder and supervisor Gerardo personally oversaw quality control, ensuring an impeccable result that fully met the client’s expectations.

💥 Conclusion

This project was an exciting technical challenge, combining artisanal precision with an advanced digital workflow. We thank DUDE for their trust and are proud of the result we achieved!

Dietro le quinte: il nostro lavoro per DUDE e Natura Trainer

Siamo entusiasti di raccontarvi uno dei nostri ultimi progetti, realizzato in collaborazione con DUDE, agenzia creativa leader a Milano, per il restyling dei packaging Natura Trainer. Il nostro team ha curato l’integrazione delle nuove grafiche sui pack, con l’obiettivo di ottenere un risultato perfettamente realistico, senza che la sostituzione fosse percepibile.

Qui vi portiamo dietro le quinte, per raccontarvi qualche dettaglio tecnico del lavoro svolto in Nuke, il software che abbiamo utilizzato per il compositing.

📦 Fase 1: Clean-up

Il primo step è stato ripulire i pack originali. Questo ha richiesto:

Rimozione delle grafiche esistenti:Tramite tecniche di patching e roto-paint, abbiamo eliminato testi e loghi preesistenti. In alcuni casi, abbiamo creato clean plate manualmente, ricostruendo texture e dettagli persi.
Proiezione 3D:Dove necessario, abbiamo proiettato le texture pulite su geometrie 3D, per garantire coerenza prospettica e corretta deformazione sugli elementi curvi del packaging.

🖼️ Fase 2: Integrazione nuove grafiche

Dopo aver pulito i pack, siamo passati all’integrazione delle nuove etichette:

Preparazione delle grafiche:Abbiamo ricevuto i file delle nuove etichette in alta risoluzione, che sono stati adattati in Nuke tramite trasformazioni e distorsioni per rispettare le geometrie originali del pack.
Proiezione e tracking:Grazie al 3D tracking e all’uso di proiezioni UV, abbiamo applicato le grafiche mantenendo la prospettiva corretta e adattandole a eventuali movimenti di camera.
Lighting e riflessi:Per aumentare il realismo, abbiamo aggiunto riflessi e luci compatibili con la scena originale, in alcuni casi utilizzando pass di specularità e riflessioni create ad hoc.

🎨 Fase 3: Final compositing

Infine, abbiamo eseguito un lavoro accurato di compositing per unire tutti gli elementi:

Color correction e matching:Abbiamo uniformato le nuove grafiche ai colori e alle luci del pack originale, per evitare stacchi visivi.
Aggiunta di imperfezioni:Leggere sfocature, grana e micro-dettagli hanno contribuito a integrare perfettamente le nuove grafiche nella scena.
Revisione finale:Il nostro co-founder e supervisore Gerardo ha curato personalmente il controllo qualità, garantendo un risultato impeccabile e fedele alle richieste del cliente.

💥 Conclusione

Questo progetto è stato una sfida tecnica entusiasmante, che ha unito precisione artigianale e workflow digitale avanzato. Ringraziamo DUDE per la fiducia e siamo fieri del risultato raggiunto!
